Innovative and Experimental Activity
This section is devoted to innovative educational practices and the pilot testing of study materials. At its core are digital mini-lessons for grades 7–9 that combine learning English with getting to know the native region, and an online trainer for self-checking.
Innovative educational practices
The set “English + native region” includes three mini-lessons. Each lesson is built around a text, a glossary, tasks for communication and an online self-check.
Buryatia in English
A text about the Republic of Buryatia, topic-related vocabulary and tasks for discussing the native region in English.
Ulan-Ude: a mini tour
A short guided tour of the city in text, a glossary for describing landmarks and communicative tasks.
Baikal in English
A text about Baikal, vocabulary about nature and ecology, tasks for oral speech and an online self-check.
The set materials are being prepared for publication in the “Methodical toolbox” section. The mini-lesson on Buryat proverbs is already available — see the block below.
The image of the dog in Buryat proverbs
An English mini-lesson for grades 7–8: eight Buryat proverbs about the dog, topic-related vocabulary, tasks on matching meanings and six English equivalents. It comes with an online test of 15 questions with explanations.
The pilot testing of study materials
This section is being filled. Information about the pilot testing will be presented here: classes and deadlines, the format of work, student feedback and the changes made to the materials based on the results of the testing.
Online trainer
Training tests on Baikal, Buryatia, scientific vocabulary and Buryat proverbs are already available on the “Trainer and lecture hall” page. They help consolidate vocabulary, check understanding of the texts and immediately see the analysis of mistakes.
